Henzi Conspiracy
Henzi Conspiracy
organized in Bern in 1749 by S. Henzi, D. Fueter, and G. Fueter among manufacturers, merchants, tradesmen, and students (a total of about 70 people). The goals of the Henzi conspiracy were to overthrow the city patricians, transfer power to the burgher families, and introduce legislation on the guilds. In the summer of 1749 the conspirators’ plan was betrayed to the authorities. On July 17, 1749, Henzi and two other organizers of the conspiracy were executed.
