Ianykurgan
an urban-type settlement and the administrative center of Ianykurgan Raion, Kzyl-Orda Oblast, Kazakh SSR. Located on the right bank of the Syr Darya, Ianykurgan is served by a railroad station on the Kzyl-Orda-Turkestan line, 180 km southeast of Kzyl-Orda. The settlement has a gravel plant and an industrial combine.
Ianykurgan is a balneopeloid health resort. Summers are hot, with an average July temperature of 28°C, and winters are mild, with an average January temperature of –7°C. Precipitation totals 160 mm annually. Therapeutic remedies include brine and silt from Lake Teresken. The settlement also has a sulfate-chloride-hydrocarbonate sodium-magnesium mineral spring. Disorders of the musculoskeletal, digestive, and peripheral nervous systems are treated, as well as women’s diseases. Ianykurgan has a sanatorium and a mud-treatment building.
