Iana Plateau
Iana Plateau
a plateau in the Yakut ASSR, in the basin of the middle course of the lana River. Part of the Iana-Oimiakon Highland, the lana Plateau is bounded by the Verkhoiansk Range on the east and by spurs of the Cherskii Range on the west. It is composed of aleurolites, shales, and Triassic sandstones; granite intrusions are found in some places. The plateau has elevations of 450 to 800 m; some short ridges reach an elevation of 1,768 m. The plateau is covered mainly by thin larch forests.
