Iana-Indigirka Lowland

 

a low-lying plain along the coast of the Laptev and East Siberian seas in the Yakut ASSR. The Iana-Indigirka Lowland stretches 600 km from Buor-Khaia Bay in the west to the Indigirka River in the east. It is up to 300 km wide and has elevations to 300 m. The lowland is composed of marine and alluvial deposits and fossil ice. It has numerous marshes and thermokarst lakes. The northern part of the lowland has moss-lichen and low shrub tundra; thin larch forests occur in the south.
