Hunder criteria

(hŭn'dĕr), Standards defined by Hunder (2000) at the Mayo Clinic for the diagnosis of polymyalgia rheumatica, an inflammatory condition of unknown etiology. Criteria include persistent pain for at least 1 month involving two of the following areas: neck, shoulders, and pelvic girdle; morning stiffness lasting longer than 1 hour; rapid response to prednisone; absence of other diseases capable of causing the musculoskeletal symptoms; patients age exceeding 50 years; erythrocyte sedimentation rate exceeding 40 mm/hour. All criteria must be satisfied for the diagnosis to be confirmed.
