Ialutorovsk

 

a city and the administrative center of laluto-rovsk Raion, Tiumen’ Oblast, RSFSR. Situated on the left bank of the Tobol River (a left tributary of the Irtysh). Railroad station on the Sverdlovsk-Omsk line, 74 km southeast of Tiumen’. Population, 29,000 (Jan. 1, 1974).

Ialutorovsk has a milk-canning production association, a meatpacking plant, a sawmill, and a reinforced-concrete products plant. The chief plant of the Tiumen’ Agricultural Machinery Repair Association is also located in the city. Educational institutions include a sovkhoz technicum and a medical school. The Decembrist Museum is located in Ialutorovsk, which was the place of exile of such Decembrists as M. I. Murav’ev-Apóstol, E. P. Obolenskii, I. I. Pushchin, and I. D. Iakushkin. The city also has a people’s amateur theater.
