During Tony Blair’s time as prime minister, he held several important government jobs including secretary of state for Trade and Industry (May 2006-June 2007), secretary of state for Scotland (June 2003-May 2006), and secretary of state for Transport (May 2002-May 2006). He was elected MP for Edinburgh South West in 2005.
