Kuhnau

Kuhnau complained in 1717 that the trebles lost their voices before they had learned to use them.

The whole, evidently programme-music, is a sonata worked out somewhat on Kuhnau lines.

Kuhnau, in fact, however interesting a phenomenon in the musical firmament, is not necessary to explain the appearance of Bach.

Kuhnau worked his hardest to remedy this state of things, but without avail.
