Klondike, theKlon‧dike, the /ˈklɒndaɪk $ ˈklɑːn-/ an area in northwest Canada, in the Yukon. Gold was discovered there in the 1890s, and this caused a gold rush (=when many people go to an area to look for gold). If a lot of people hurry to a particular place to do an activity, the situation is sometimes said to be ‘like the Klondike’. |
