The ira exploded the bomb at the Grand Hotel, Brighton, where most members of the Conservative Government were staying for the 1984 Conservative Party conference. The bomb exploded at 2.40 am killing five people. Mrs Thatcher escaped unhurt, but one of her most important ministers, Employment Secretary Norman Tebbit, and his wife were both injured. |
