单词 affirmable
释义

affirmableadj.

Brit. /əˈfəːməbl/, U.S. /əˈfərməbəl/
Origin: Formed within English, by derivation; originally modelled on a French lexical item. Etymons: affirm v., -able suffix.
Etymology: < affirm v. + -able suffix, originally after French †affermable (1611 in Cotgrave: see quot. 1611). Compare post-classical Latin affirmabilis (14th cent.). Compare earlier affirmably adv. N.E.D. (1884) also includes the sense ‘affirmative, positive’, inferred from affirmably adv. 1, but evidence for this is lacking.
Capable of being affirmed or asserted. Also with of.
