Origin: A borrowing from French. Etymon: French affinage.
Etymology: < French affinage action of purifying or maturing something (1390 in Middle French, originally and frequently with reference to the refining of metals) < affiner affine v. + -age -age suffix. Compare French raffinage (see refinage n.).
