单词 | carborane |
释义 | carboranen. Chemistry. Any of a group of compounds of carbon, boron, and hydrogen whose molecules are polyhedral with at least one carbon atom at a vertex, and which are typified by high thermal stability and resistance to acids. ΚΠ 1962 Jrnl. Amer. Chem. Soc. 84 2831/1 The compounds B4CnH2n + 4 (or more generally, BmCnHm + n + 4) may be considered to fit between the boron hydrides which have bridge hydrogens but no carbon..and the recently reported carboranes (BmCnHm + n) which contain carbon and boron but no bridge hydrogen. 1976 Nature 11 Mar. 176/3 Although work on various metallocarboranes is reported, there is almost no coverage of carboranes per se. 1991 New Scientist 12 Oct. 47/2 It is quite easy to add a wide variety of organic and inorganic groups of atoms at specific locations in the carborane rings. 2001 Chem. & Industry (Nexis) 5 Feb. 81 The medicinal aspect of boron chemistry is largely concerned with attaching organic groups to a variety of polyhedral boranes and carboranes, to produce compounds suitable for boron neutron capture therapy.
