单词 calash
释义

calashn.

Brit. /kəˈlaʃ/, U.S. /kəˈlæʃ/
Forms: Also 1600s gallesh, calleche, calesh, galeche, 1600s–1700s caleche, 1800s calèche.
Etymology: < French calèche, < Slavonic: Czech kolésa, Polish kołaska, diminutive of kołasa ‘wheel-carriage’, < koło wheel: compare Russian koljaska calash, koleso wheel. In English, after many eccentricities, the word settled down as calash; but the French form calèche is frequent in modern writers in reference to the Continent or Canada.
