Origin: A borrowing from Latin. Etymon: Latin adnascentia.
Etymology: < post-classical Latin adnascentia (1518 or earlier), use as noun of classical Latin adnāscentia , neuter plural of adnāscēns , present participle (see adnascent adj.), after Hellenistic Greek παραϕυάς sucker, offshoot (already in ancient Greek denoting a branch of a vein).
Obsolete. rare. Apparently only attested in dictionaries or glossaries.
Branches (of an artery or other structure); offshoots (from a subterranean bulb).
