单词 admixed
释义

admixedadj.

Brit. /ədˈmɪkst/, /adˈmɪkst/, U.S. /ædˈmɪkst/
Forms:

α. late Middle English admixte, late Middle English admyxt, 1600s 1900s– admixt.

β. 1600s– admixed.

Origin: Of multiple origins. Partly a borrowing from Latin. Partly formed within English, by derivation. Etymons: Latin admixtus ; admix v., -ed suffix1.
Etymology: Originally (in α. forms) < classical Latin admixtus, past participle of admiscēre to add as an ingredient, to mix (see admix v.); in later use (chiefly in β. forms) < admix v. + -ed suffix1. Compare earlier mixed adj.2 and the discussion at that entry. Compare later admix v. and admixt v.
Mixed together or with something else; added as an ingredient or additional element. In early use chiefly as past participle.
