Origin: A borrowing from Chinese. Etymon: Chinese yám chàh.
Etymology: < Chinese (Cantonese) yám chàh to drink tea (in a teahouse, etc.) < yám to drink + chàh tea: see cha n.
In Chinese contexts: a meal eaten in the morning or early afternoon, typically consisting of dim sum and hot tea.
