Etymology: < wrought adj. + -ed suffix1. Compare later wroughted , variant past tense and past participle of work v. (see respectively Forms 2ζ. and 3θ. at that entry; compare also past participle wrochtin at Forms 3ε. and present participle wrochtand at Forms 1κ. , both 16th cent. in Older Scots). With sense 2 compare earlier wrought adj. 11b, wrought-up adj. at wrought adj. Compounds.
