/ˈwʊstəbɛri/ A small black gooseberry of the North American species Ribes divaricatum, once believed to be a hybrid of the blackcurrant and the gooseberry and sold as such by a Worcester nurseryman.

1969 S. G. Harrison et al. Oxf. Bk. Food Plants 80/2 The so-called ‘Worcesterberry’..seems first to have been sold by a nurseryman in Worcester who thought it was a black currant gooseberry hybrid.
