Origin: Formed within English, by derivation. Etymons: whore n., -ing suffix1; whore v., -ing suffix1.
Etymology: Probably partly < whore n. + -ing suffix1, and partly (in later use) < whore v. + -ing suffix1.
The action or an act of whore v.; fornication, sexual promiscuity. Also figurative. In early use spec. in biblical context, chiefly in to go a whoring: the action or practice of idolatry or unfaithfulness to the true God (cf. whoredom n. 2).
