Origin: Formed within English, by derivation. Etymons: Whig n.2, -ized suffix; Whiggize v., -ed suffix1.
Etymology: Originally < Whig n.2 + -ized suffix (compare later Whiggize v.). In later use probably re-formed < Whiggize v. + -ed suffix1. Compare earlier Whiggified adj.
Somewhat depreciative. rare (now historical).
Imbued with or inclining to the principles or outlook of the Whigs or Whig Party; Whiggish. Cf. Whiggified adj.
