With the. A region west of the River Jordan and north-west of the Dead Sea, now forming part of the Palestinian territories.Formerly under Ottoman rule, and forming part of the British-mandated territory following the First World War, the region became part of Jordan in 1948 and was occupied by Israel in the Arab–Israeli War of 1967. The Palestinians were granted limited control as a result of the Oslo Accords of 1993.
