Mineralogy. Now historical and rare.
A whitish mineral consisting of a hydrated basic sulphate of aluminium, typically occurring in opaque, clay-like masses; = aluminite n.

Etymology: < Webster, the name of a village in North Carolina, where the mineral was originally discovered (compare quot. 1890) + -ite suffix1.
Geology.
An ultramafic, ultrabasic rock formed in the cavities and fissures of other rocks and composed of approximately equal amounts of orthopyroxene and clinopyroxene, typically having a greyish, banded appearance.
