Origin: Formed within English, by compounding. Etymons: water n., source n.
Etymology: < water n. + source n. In sense 1 after German Wasserquelle, used in this sense in the writings of J. Böhme (1624 in the passage translated in quot. 1647). With sense 2 compare earlier water spring n.
1. In the writings of Jakob Böhme: (apparently) the primary elemental quality embodied by or associated with water. Obsolete.
