Etymology: Imitative of the sound of a regular drumbeat. Compare tum-tum n.1 and adv.
The sound of a regular or monotonous drumbeat; a piece of music, or any sound, that is monotonously regular or repetitive. Cf. tum-tum n.1 and adv.
