Etymology: Apparently < vocal adj. + -ion (in accordion n. and orchestrion n.).
Now historical.
A type of reed organ in which broad reeds are used to produce a smooth powerful sound.Invented by James Baillie Hamilton (born 1837, died after 1926). Organs of various sizes were manufactured under the brand name Vocalion until c1910.
