Etymology: < late Latin viscidus, < Latin viscum birdlime (see viscous adj.). Hence also Old French viscide, Italian viscido.
1. Of fluid or soft substances: Having a glutinous or gluey character; sticky, adhesive, ropy. (Cf. viscous adj. 1.)
