Any of the numerous leguminous plants of the genus Lathyrus, native to temperate areas and typically having brightly coloured flowers, slender tendrils, and compound pinnate leaves.Vetchlings are widely cultivated as garden plants for their sweet-smelling flowers and as a sources of food for livestock and humans.
