单词 aciniform
释义

aciniformadj.

Brit. /əˈsɪnᵻfɔːm/, U.S. /əˈsɪnəˌfɔrm/
Origin: A borrowing from Latin. Etymon: Latin aciniformis.
Etymology: < post-classical Latin aciniformis (1690 or earlier) < classical Latin acinus acinus n. + -formis -form comb. form2; compare -iform comb. form. Compare French aciniforme (1751 with reference to the uvea of the eye, 1838 in more general use).Post-classical Latin aciniformis probably represents an alteration of earlier acinoformis ( J. P. Ingrassia Tumoribus præter naturam (1553) 292), although acinoformis is irregular in Latin. Post-classical Latin acinoformis is apparently used to render Hellenistic Greek ῥαγόεις torn, rent, burst, but the text is unclear and this may be a transmission error for ῥαγοειδής like berries or grapes, especially in ῥαγοειδής χιτών (in the eye) the choroid membrane.
