Origin: Formed within English, by derivation. Etymons: utopia n., -ic suffix.
Etymology: < Utopi- (in utopia n.) + -ic suffix. Compare post-classical Latin utopicus (1569 or earlier), French utopique (1529 in an isolated attestation in Middle French in sense ‘of or relating to the fictional island of Utopia’, subsequently from 1839), Spanish utópico (1848), and also German utopisch (1679). Compare earlier utopian adj., utopical adj.
