Origin: A borrowing from Welsh. Etymon: Welsh Brython.
Etymology: < Welsh Brython (see Briton n.).Popularized by John Rhŷs (1840–1915, Celtic scholar and first Professor of Celtic at the University of Oxford), who used it as a technical term, contrasting with Goidel n.; compare Brythonic n., Brittonic n.
