The popular name of plants belonging to the genera Sanguisorba and Poterium (family Rosaceæ), of which the Great or Common Burnet ( Sanguisorba officinalis) is common in meadows, and the Lesser or Salad Burnet ( Poterium Sanguisorba) on the Chalk.
