Any muscle that draws a part of the body towards the median plane or midline, or that brings two parts (such as the valves of a bivalve mollusc shell) together. Frequently attributive, esp. in adductor muscle. Contrasted with abductor n. 1.Also with distinguishing scientific Latin word, typically specifying the part moved by the muscle, as adductor pollicis, adductor of the great toe, adductor femoris, adductor of the femur, etc.
