Origin: Formed within English, by derivation. Etymons: unmeet adj., -ness suffix.
Etymology: < unmeet adj. + -ness suffix. In sense 2 re-formed in the 16th cent., after meetness n.Compare Old English ungemetnes immensity, hugeness, intemperateness, excess ( < unimete n. + -ness suffix).
Now archaic.
1. Immensity, vastness. Also: multiplicity, numerousness. Obsolete.Only in Old English.
