Law (originally U.S.) the action or fact of obtaining a benefit (not intended as a gift) from another party in circumstances which the law regards as unjust and where the law requires the beneficiary to make restitution; an instance of this; (also) the body of law relating to such benefits and restitution.Cf. unjustified enrichment n. at unjustified adj. Compounds, which, though often treated as synonymous, is typically used in relation to civil law rather than common law.
