单词 undreaded
释义

undreadedadj.

Forms: see un- prefix1 and dreaded adj.
Origin: Formed within English, by derivation. Etymons: un- prefix1, dreaded adj.
Etymology: < un- prefix1 + dreaded adj.Compare also the following earlier example. It is unclear whether this shows a parallel formation < un- prefix1 + dreid , Scots past participle of dread v., or a different formation altogether (in the sense ‘uncontinued, unendured’) < un- prefix1 + dreed , past participle of dree v.:1535 Aberdeen Reg. (Jam.) And cam nocht to be ondreyd be him thairof. Previous versions of the OED give the stress as: unˈdreaded.
(un- prefix1 2.)
