Etymology: < tubercul- (in tuberculosis n.) + -id suffix2. In sense 1 after French tuberculidie (1868 in the source translated in quot. 1868). In sense 2 after French tuberculide (1880 or earlier). Compare earlier scrofulide n., syphilid n.
Medicine.
1. Tuberculosis, spec. in an active granulomatous stage. Obsolete. rare.

2. Any lesion or disorder of the skin occurring in conjunction with tuberculous infection elsewhere in the body (typically as the result of hypersensitivity to mycobacterial antigens). In early use also: tuberculous infection of the skin itself (now rare or disused). Cf. tuberculoderma n. at tuberculo- comb. form .
