单词 tricot
释义

tricotn.1

Etymology: Allied to Old French tricotage chicanery, trickery (Godefroy Compl.), tricotement chicane (c1400 in Godefroy), tricoterie ‘cousenage, cheating, trecherie, deceit, in the following of a suit, etc.’ (Cotgrave), which imply a verb *tricoter to cozen, cheat, and perhaps a noun *tricot; but these do not appear in this sense, unless they are figurative uses of tricoter to knit, tricot knitting.
Obsolete. rare.
Trickery, fraud.
