单词 | troponin |
释义 | troponinn. Biochemistry. Any of a family of proteins, found primarily in skeletal and cardiac muscle, which play a major role in the regulation of muscle contraction. Also (frequently with distinguishing letter): any of the three types of polypeptide chain of which such a protein is composed. Frequently attributive. The three subunits of troponin are troponin T, which binds to tropomyosin, troponin I, which binds to actin, and troponin C, which binds calcium. ΚΠ 1966 S. Ebashi & E. Kodama in Jrnl. Biochem. (Tokyo) 59 425/1 Tropomyosin-like protein, or ‘native’ tropomyosin..has been shown to consist of two different proteins, viz., tropomyosin of Bailey type and a globular protein promoting the aggregation of tropomyosin, named troponin. 1981 R. N. Hardy Endocrine Physiol. i. 8 In order to become physiologically active, Ca2+ must first bind to calmodulin, or, in the case of muscle cells, to analogous proteins such as the troponins, which are in fact very similar in structure. 2003 Guardian 10 June ii. 8/5 They were interested in blood levels of a specific enzyme called cardiac troponin I,..high concentrations of which are found in those who have suffered a heart attack. 2012 Jrnl. Gen. Physiol. 139 266/2 This difference arises primarily because fast-twitch troponin has two Ca2+ regulatory sites per molecule, whereas slow-twitch troponin has only one.
