Etymology: < Brazilian Portuguese tropicalista (although this is apparently first attested later as noun: 1992 or earlier; 1968 as adjective) < tropical tropical adj. + -ista -ist suffix, after Tropicália Tropicalia n. Compare earlier tropicalist n.
