单词 trume
释义

trumetromen.

Forms: Old English truma; Middle English trume, trome, (Middle English trun; cf. sheltron n.1).
Etymology: Old English truma, apparently a derivative of the adjective trum firm, strong, able to resist (neither truma nor trum appears outside English.) Notwithstanding a suspicious likeness in form and sense to Latin turma ‘troop, squadron, crowd, throng’, the Old English derivatives of truma (e.g. getruma , antruma , trymman , to trim v., etc.) show it to be a native word.
Obsolete.
A body of persons, esp. of troops, etc. in battle array; a troop; a company, band; a crowd, multitude. Cf. thrum n.1
