triazoacetic acid

A formative of the names of compounds containing three atoms of nitrogen arranged in a ring, thus —N^N_N̈, as triazobenzene, C₆H₅N^N_N̈. It has also been used somewhat differently, as in triazoacetic acid, N₂^{CH(CO₂H).N₂}_{CH(CO₂H).N₂}CH(CO₂H). Also attributive as in triazo compounds, triazo derivatives, etc.
