单词 treche
释义

trechetrichv.

Forms: Also Middle English tricche, Middle English trecche.
Etymology: < Old French trichier, trechier (3rd singular present triche, treche), to deceive, cheat, in Picard trikier, (trike), modern French tricher, Provençal trichar, triquar, Italian treccare. Ulterior origin uncertain: supposed by Diez to be from a German dialect (compare also Mackel Germ. Elemente im Franz. 104); but others think from a late Latin *triccāre for Latin trīcārī to trifle, shuffle, play tricks, < trīcae trifles, quirks, wiles, tricks (see Storm in Romania V. 172). For the family of words belonging to this verb see treacher n. to treachery n., also trichard n., and (more remotely) trick n. and its derivatives.
Obsolete.
transitive. To deceive, cheat, betray, play false with.
