(a) the clothes typically or traditionally worn by those working in a particular trade (obsolete); (b) Law (chiefly U.S.) the visual appearance of a product or commercial enterprise, used to distinguish the product or enterprise in the marketplace; an instance of this.Trade dress (sense (b)) is considered a form of intellectual property and can be protected by law.
