Origin: A borrowing from Greek, combined with an English element; perhaps modelled on a German lexical item. Etymons: Greek τόμος , -gram comb. form.
Etymology: < ancient Greek τόμος slice, section (see tome n.) + -gram comb. form, perhaps after German Tomogramm (1935 or earlier). Compare slightly earlier tomograph n., tomography n.
A tomographic image of the internal structure of something.
