tittien.2

Brit. /ˈtɪti/, U.S. /ˈtɪdi/, Scottish English /ˈtɪtɪ/
Origin: Apparently a borrowing from Norn.
Etymology: Apparently < the unattested Norn cognate of Faroese tytta , Norwegian (Nynorsk) tytte , both in the sense ‘girl, woman’ (of uncertain origin, perhaps originally a hypocoristic formation on the Scandinavian base of Old Icelandic systir sister n.; compare tittie n.1), with the ending remodelled after -y suffix6. Perhaps compare tit n.4 2a.
Scottish (Shetland).
A young woman, a girl, a lass.
