1. Chemistry. The action or process of determining the concentration of a solution or one of its constituents by adding measured volumes of a reagent of known concentration until the point is reached at which a reaction just begins or ceases to occur (often marked by a change in colour of the reagent or of an added indicator); an analysis of this type. Cf. titrate v. 1.Also called volumetric analysis.formol, potentiometric, protamine titration, etc.: see the first element.
