Etymology: < Greek θύμον thyme n. + -ol suffix.
Chemistry.
The phenol of cymene, C10H13.OH, obtained from oil of thyme, also from the volatile oil of horse-mint, crystallizing in transparent rhomboidal plates; a powerful antiseptic.
