Etymology: Name used in Madeira: perhaps a local use of Portuguese til , teil n. or linden.
A lauraceous tree, Oreodaphne fetens, of the Canary Islands and Madeira; also its wood, which has a fetid smell. Chiefly attributive, as til-tree, til-wood.
