Etymology: < through- prefix + feed n. (compare sense 5a at that entry).
Chiefly Mechanics.
The action or process of passing something right through a piece of equipment, apparatus, etc.; esp. (in centreless grinding) movement of a workpiece right through the space between the two grinding wheels (contrasted with in-feed n.). Frequently attributive.
